Career Development, Education and Research Training (CERT) Program
Program Director: Kurt Kroenke, MD
Academic Research Education and Training
Indiana University’s Clinical Investigator and Translational Education Program, funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health, was developed to formally train physicians, nurses, dentists, doctoral and postdoctoral scientists. This special program allows enrollees to integrate formal research training with a fellowship or faculty position in one’s own department. Trainees complete didactic coursework along with research in one’s own discipline. The program offers two Master of Science degrees conferred by the Indiana University Graduate School, Clinical Research and Translational Science. A second option is to take fewer courses, excluding the research requirement, leading to a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research or Translational Science. A Minor in Translational Science is also available. In addition, individuals may take a course or more that pertains to their research interests.

Research Training and Career Development Awards
Indiana CTSI offers limited award funding to predoctoral students, and postdoctoral junior faculty members engaged in clinical or translational research. Candidates must be able to identify co-mentors, who are faculty scientists from two different disciplines (preferably a clinician-scientist, and a PhD-scientist). Trainees are funded for a two-year period, the second year contingent on adequate progress in year one. Award applications and instructions are posted on the CTSI HUB in early December each year and are due in February.
- Young Investigator Awards in Clinical – Translational Research
- Predoctoral Training Awards in Translational Research
